Role Description
Our products are at the heart of what we do—trusted by MATs nationwide to manage their finances more efficiently and effectively. As we scale, we're evolving how we work: moving from reactive delivery to strategic, discovery-led product development.
We're looking for a Product Owner to join our team and help drive this transformation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Discovery Leadership
Own discovery for solving key customer problems whether at a module or feature level—from problem validation to roadmap definition.
Conduct customer interviews, observations, and problem validation.
Synthesise insights into clear problem statements, hypotheses, and success metrics.
Collaborate with designers to build and test prototypes/MVPs before committing to build.
Lead iterative design and validation cycles, working closely with design to refine solutions based on user feedback.
Support discovery efforts across the broader Product family.
Model evidence-based decision-making and customer-centric thinking.
Contribute to building our discovery framework as a team (with coaching from Head of Product).
2. Product Ownership
Translate requirements into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
Maintain and manage the development backlog and sprint planning for your squad.
Partner with Engineering, Design, and QA to deliver features on time and to specification.
Work iteratively with designers throughout the development process, from initial concepts through to final implementation.
Use AI tools to create specifications and improve team efficiency.
Monitor progress and ensure agile processes are followed.
3. Product Strategy & Roadmap
Own the roadmap for your product or module.
Contribute customer insights and data analysis to product prioritisation.
Define and monitor key product metrics to validate impact.
Make prioritisation decisions for your areas, balancing business goals, customer needs, and technical constraints.
Collaborate with other POs/PMs on cross-product planning.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with Support, Implementation, and Sales to consolidate customer feedback.
Engage regularly with customers—interviews, site visits, feedback sessions.
Collaborate closely with designers on user research, usability testing, and design iteration.
Collaborate with other Product Owners to share learnings and align approaches.
Support go-to-market activities for your product areas.
Required Qualifications
3-5 years as a Product Owner or similar role in B2B SaaS.
Experience with customer discovery—you've conducted interviews, synthesised insights, or validated hypotheses (even if informally).
Experience working collaboratively with designers—you understand the value of design in product development and can work iteratively to refine solutions.
Team leadership experience—you've managed or led small teams (testers, designers, or cross-functional squads).
Strong delivery fundamentals—backlog management, user stories, sprint planning, agile ceremonies.
Analytical and problem-solving skills—comfortable digging into data and customer feedback.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Comfortable with ambiguity—you can structure problems and work through uncertainty.
Experience with product management tools (Monday.com, Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.).
Curious about and willing to embrace AI tooling for product management, comfortable experimenting with AI to improve specifications, synthesis, and productivity.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in EdTech or education finance systems.
Knowledge of school budgeting, planning, or MIS software.
Understanding of MAT structures, school funding, or financial planning workflows.
Experience with design thinking methodologies and user-centred design processes.
Experience using AI tools for product management work (e.g., Claude for specifications and analysis, Loveable or similar tools for rapid prototyping, AI for customer insight synthesis).
Formal product discovery training (Continuous Discovery Habits, Product School, etc.).
Accounting or finance background (AAT, ACCA, or sector experience).
Experience with contracts management, procurement, or compliance software.
Experience building new product modules or features from concept to launch.
